The KUSM-W neuropsychology fellowship program provides a specialized focus in clinical neuropsychology. The program is in compliance with the training guidelines of Division 40 of the American Psychological Association, policies of the Houston Conference, and is part of the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN) Match. Fellows gain experience and training in a broad array of inpatient and outpatient services including:
• Neuropsychological evaluations with adults and children
• Consultation/Liaison services at area hospitals
• Inpatient evaluations on a geriatric psychiatric unit
• Competency/Capacity evaluations
• Inpatient evaluations on a video EEG unit
• Medico-legal and forensic neuropsychology
• Cognitive rehabilitation
Most fellows have the opportunity to sit in on deposition of a neuropsychology faculty member. And all fellows gain experience conducting forensic evaluations. Cases generally include forensic referrals involving civil litigation, Independent Medical Evaluations for insurance companies and some criminal litigation.
