Inner-City Family Health Team, Toronto, Ontario, Canada - 1 Postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology and homelessness.

Inner City Family Health Team, located at 69 Queen St. E. in Toronto, is currently seeking to fill a 1 year adult neuropsychology fellowship beginning in January 2016. Applications from those with a background in rehabilitation and forensic psychology in the context complex and co-occurring psychological and medical disorders among chronically homeless population is encouraged. The fellow will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and effective communication as well as complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.

The fellowship will emphasize clinical training in a primary health care setting as well as emergency shelter setting. Participation in research and other scholarly activity will be encouraged. In addition to semi-structured didactics within the clinic, fellows will have the opportunity to participate in didactic activities with colleagues from other sites such as the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and St-Michael’s Hospital. Fellows will be provided with formal and informal supervision by licensed psychologists and psychiatrists. Fellows must be licensed with the college of Psychologists of Ontario or be ready for licensure under supervised practice (http://www.cpo.on.ca).

The neuropsychology service provides neuropsychological, psychological and functional assessment services for homeless individuals facing a wide range of medical, neurologic, and psychological issues. Referrals tend involve diagnostic clarification, identifying cognitive strengths and weaknesses, provide treatment recommendation as well as the implementation of treatment (i.e. psychotherapy, cognitive rehabilitation). Assessment reports are often instrumental in refugee hearings, brain injury referrals, mental health court diversion, the Ontario Disability Support Program (OSDP), and Developmental Services Ontario (DSO). Furthermore, the fellow will also be asked to assist in building clinical programming and provide individualized and group based therapies (Substance Use and Brain Injury program, cognitive rehabilitation, Cognitive adaptation training, counseling etc.), to clients.

This position has an annual full-time salary of $50,000. Two weeks of vacation as well as time for professional development will be granted (e.g. examinations, EPPP etc.)
