Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychology and Behavioral Sciences (DCAPBS) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow in pediatric neuropsychology beginning September 2012. The training program is two years and is designed to meet the criteria set forth by the Houston Conference Policy Statement and participates in the match process through the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN.
The goal is to prepare the fellow for a career as a scientist-practitioner in pediatric neuropsychology.
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia shares the No. 1 spot on U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll of the nation's Best Children’s Hospitals for 2011-2012. It was the first hospital in the US devoted exclusively to the care of children. The Pediatric Neuropsychology Program receives referrals from many different medical services, including neurology, neurosurgery, hematology/oncology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation, and from a variety of clinics for neurodevelopmental disorders. Fellows have the opportunity to participate in many different programs, including pre- and post-epilepsy surgery evaluations, inpatient and day treatment work within the hospital’s CARF accredited pediatric rehabilitation unit, consultation within the pediatric stroke program, and general neuropsychological outpatient evaluations from a variety of referral sources.
The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at CHOP includes 5 neuropsychologists within the hospital-based Neuropsychology & Assessment Service and several others in other departments within the hospital. The division provides a wide array of inpatient and outpatient clinical services, and also supports active research programs. The department also houses a predoctoral internship with tracks in pediatric neuropsychology, pediatric psychology, child clinical psychology, and Autism Spectrum Disorders that is accredited by the American Psychological Association.
The neuropsychology post-doctoral training program covers a period of 2 years, and consists of clinical, educational and research activities.
Fellows receive a salary of $38,496 in year 1 and $40,548 in year 2 (based on the NIH Salary Scale), as well as the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia employee benefit package (after 30 days of employment), which includes health, dental, and vision insurance. Professional liability coverage is provided by the hospital. Fellows receive 25 days of paid time off, as well as 7 regular holidays.

Interviews will be arranged after initial screening of applications. Interviews will take place at the annual meeting of the International Neuropsychological Society. Most interviews will be scheduled for Tuesday Feb 14th at INS.
