Shriners Hospitals for Children®, Chicago in association with Marquette University seeks candidates for two- to three-year research fellowships to begin July 1-September 1, 2012. The postdoctoral program is funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).
The deadline for applications is January 6, 2012.
Fellows will have the opportunity to work on ongoing research projects as well as to work on projects of their own design. Our group was recently awarded a Research Center Grant on Technologies for Children with Orthopaedic Disabilities (NIDRR RERC). We are especially interested in recruiting an individual with interests in pediatric spinal cord dysfunctions. Other areas of research include: transition in the lifespan, motion analyses, and pediatric pain rehabilitation. Depending on area of expertise, fellows may engage in integrative research bridging two or more disciplines (e.g., psychology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, biomedical engineering).
The program offers directed mentorship, research training, and formal didactic components. It includes a cross-disciplinary course structure for all fellows. Trainees attend courses, symposia and seminars in areas, which include Evidence Based Research, Scientific Writing and Grantsmanship, Biostatistics and Outcomes Assessment, and Motion and Mobility Analysis. Clinical hours towards licensure are available.
Candidates must have obtained their doctoral degree from an APA-approved program and completed an APA-accredited internship with a focus on pediatric or rehabilitation psychology by the start date. Annual salary and fringe benefits are competitive. The program also includes support for conference travel, career planning, and job search assistance.
