Harvard Medical School Division of Psychology, Malden, MA, USA - 1 Post-doctoral Fellowship in Behavioral medicine

Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School Division of Psychology/Department of Psychiatry
Post-doctoral Fellowship in Behavioral medicine

The Behavioral Medicine Fellowship is for trainees interested in working in a primary care clinic providing integrated care with a focus on psychological co-morbidities of physical health problems and an emphasis on pain, and sleep. Cambridge Health Alliance will have one or two positions open for a one year post-doctoral fellowship in Behavioral Medicine starting August 31, 2012. Cambridge Health Alliance is an academic affiliate of Harvard Medical School, comprised of three hospitals and over 14 neighborhood health centers with a focus on improving the health and quality of life of our communities. It does this by providing high-quality, culturally, linguistically and financially accessible health care to all, including high-risk, under-served, low-income populations.

The Behavioral Medicine Training Program provides Fellows with training in shorter term, symptom-focused treatment utilizing cognitive, behavioral, and physiological techniques. The Behavioral Medicine Fellows engage in integrated care sessions during which they care for patients conjointly with family medicine residents. They also provide consultation and liaison with primary care and hospital based services as well as providing assessment, individual and group treatments. Training components include year long weekly seminars on the clinical applications of behavioral medicine, hypnosis, biofeedback, self-care and fundamentals of cognitive-behavior therapy as well as individual and group supervision, and specialty workshops. Clinical research is encouraged, but not required. Fellows are eligible for an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School, providing access to libraries and other facilities. Applicants must have completed or be nearing completion of an APA-accredited Ph.D. or Psy.D. program, including an APA-accredited internship, preferably within a medical setting.
