The Forbush School at Glyndon, Reisterstown, MD, USA - 1 Child/Adolescent Postdoctoral Opportunity

The Forbush School at Glyndon is accredited by the Maryland State Department of Education as a Type I General and Special Education Nonpublic School to provide educational and therapeutic services for children and adolescents through 12th grade. Located for more than 40 years on Sheppard Pratt's campus in Towson, the school relocated to a spacious campus in Glyndon in July 2009. With resources to serve more than 160 students, The Forbush School at Glyndon continues its longstanding tradition of providing educational, vocational and therapeutic services to students with complex needs from throughout Central Maryland and beyond. The school operates 12 months of the year.

The Forbush School at Glyndon is looking to hire a qualified Postdoctoral Fellow. This position, under close supervision and as part of the training curriculum, but frequently requiring the use of independent judgment, provides direct psychological services to assigned students. Interviews students to obtain psychological history, completes written psychological assessments, participates in treatment planning, and conducts individual and group therapy using the therapeutic framework appropriate to the student’s needs and the school’s treatment philosophy (e.g., psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy). Monitors students’ progress. Works closely with assigned supervisor to improve clinical skill; attends supervision sessions; and responds constructively to clinical feedback and supervision. Communicates effectively with the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Maintains student documentation in accordance with school and Health System requirements. Administers and scores psychological tests. Provides specialized consultation and assessments. Work requires knowledge of psychodynamic, behavioral, and cognitive therapies; general psychological principles; psychiatric terminology. Requires: Completion of a Ph.D. or Psy.D. program from a school of psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), which included supervised practicum, internships, field or laboratory training appropriate to the practice of psychology. Work requires an advanced level of interpersonal skills sufficient to provide effective care to a wide variety of students, while working collaboratively with other staff. Work requires a high level of analytical ability sufficient to assess students, formulate treatment plans, provide effective therapy and set priorities. Work also frequently produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue when interviewing students, conducting therapy sessions and preparing documentation. Salary is $33,750/yr.
