The Laboratory for Adult Development in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School has openings for part-time or full-time postdoctoral research positions. Salary is $20,000/$40, 000 plus benefits for one year. This position offers the opportunity to conduct independent research on couples and marriage, with access to readily available observational, interview, and questionnaire data from ongoing research projects in the following areas: emotion expression, empathy, romantic attachment in adulthood, and relationship violence.
Qualifications include a minimum of doctoral level training in a relevant social science in addition to basic research and statistical skills. Postdoctoral position available in lifespan development research:
The Laboratory for Adult Development in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School has openings for part-time or full-time postdoctoral research positions. Salary is $20,000/$40, 000 plus benefits for one year. The Grant and Glueck Studies at Harvard Medical School have followed two socioeconomically diverse groups of men over the last 70 years to identify predictors of healthy aging.
We are particularly interested in studying what psychosocial variables and biological processes from earlier in life predict health and well-being in late life (80’s and 90’s), what aspects of childhood and adult experience predict the quality of intimate relationships in late life, and how late life marriage is linked with health and well-being. The project collects bi-annual questionnaire data relating to physical health, activity, and mental health, and we have just finished visiting participants and their wives in their homes, performing neuropsychological tests, drawing blood for DNA, and conducting neuroimaging studies of aging. This position offers a unique opportunity to access 8 decades of available data to conduct independent research in any of the above areas related to adult development across the lifespan.
