Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, Nashville, TN, USA - 1 Postdoctoral Fellowship (Autism and Developmental Disabilities)

Description: The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (VKC) for Research on Human Development is accepting applications for a clinical psychology postdoctoral fellowship in the area of autism and related developmental disabilities. The mission of the VKC (http://kc.vanderbilt.edu/site/default.aspx) is to facilitate discoveries and best practices that make positive differences in the lives of persons with developmental disabilities and their families. The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center provides an exceptional research and training environment, reflecting synergy across our NICHD-supported Intellectual and Developmental Disability Research Center (IDDRC), MCHB-supported Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) grant, and programs within the Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD).

The fellowship housed is within TRIAD--the hub for campus-wide interdisciplinary work in autism research, service, outreach, and training http://kc.vanderbilt.edu/triad/ . The fellow will make clinical contributions to innovative assessment, training, and support programs for children with autism and their families. This will include participation in various aspects of our vibrant autism research community. Much of this work will involve evaluating young children suspected of being on the autism spectrum through a variety of research projects and our hospital-based developmental clinic. Additional activities may include developing and delivering training modules and materials through our outreach program and providing evidence based treatment to young children with ASD. As an integral part of the training year, the VKC/TRIAD fellow will serve as a long-term trainee under our Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program.

The fellow’s role as a long-term trainee requires participation in at least 300 hours of classes, seminars, and required activities during the academic year. This postdoctoral clinical fellowship is a one-year paid position with fringe benefits, commencing September 1st, 2011. A detailed description of university benefits is available at: http://hr.vanderbilt.edu/benefits/benefitspackage.htm Previous clinical training and experience in assessing children with autism spectrum disorders is required, as is completion of an APA-accredited PhD/PsyD clinical, school or related program and internship. Completion of dissertation defense and other graduation requirements prior to September start date is highly preferred as a provisional license in TN will be required. Supervision toward licensure will be provided.
