Little Company of Mary Hospital at San Pedro is offering a post- doctoral fellowship training experience in Rehabilitation Psychology to begin September 2012 and end August 31, 2013. Postdoctoral position is based on the physical rehabilitation unit at this community based, CARF accredited hospital located at the port of Los Angeles. This is a twenty bed inpatient unit, with follow up outpatient care.
Typical duties will include neurobehavioral assessment, brief individual psychotherapy, coordination of community stroke support group, as well as in house cognitive education groups, consultation with Rehabilitation staff, formal personality and neuropsychological assessments. Ability to liaison with hospital based psychiatric, medical, and chemical dependency inpatient units is also available. Supervision of graduate students in Psychology is also part of the responsibilities. Research opportunities exist for motivated Fellows.
Post doctoral fellows will be exposed to a wide range of experiences under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. Didactic seminars in rehabilitation have been provided at outside medical centers, as well as weekly in house meetings. Hours will be accumulated as a licensed psychological assistant in the State of California. About 80 % of Fellows time will be spent in direct care.
Minimum requirements include:
(1) Completion of internship in Psychology which meets APPIC standards,
(2) Doctoral program in Clinical or Rehabilitation Psychology
or closely related field.
Position stipend is approximately $30,000 per year, including medical insurance. Fellows will be official employees of Little Company of Mary Hospital system and will not be able to charge for services provided in hospital. LCMSP is an equal opportunity employer.
