This full-time, 12-month Post-Doctoral position is designed for the individual who has a serious interest and commitment to working in college/university counseling centers. The goals of this internship are to help solidify theoretical approaches and techniques, and to enhance ethical awareness and practices. Guidance, supervision, and support will be given for the EPPP licensing exam. Continuing education opportunities will be offered. The position provides crisis intervention, psychological assessment, individual, group, and couples psychotherapy to a diverse student body. This individual works with a wide range of diagnostic issues whilst solidifying theoretical approaches and techniques. The position provides a wide range of outreach services to the Metro State campus community and interfaces with faculty and staff on a variety of mental health needs.
The position functions as a full-time professional staff member within the department. This announcement will be used to fill two positions.
Duties/Responsibilities (50%) Performs direct services through crisis intervention, individual, couples, and group psychotherapy.
(20%) Participates in professional development activities such as case conferences and supervision.
(10%) Completes administrative duties including case management.
(20%) Engages in outreach activities on campus.
Required Qualifications: Completed doctorate in counseling/clinical psychology from a regionally accredited institution of higher education by the end of August 2011. Completed APA-approved clinical internship by the end of August 2011. Keen interest and demonstrated experience in working with diverse clientele and programming.
Preferred Qualifications Completion of APA -approved pre-doctoral counseling center internship; experience in conducting outreach presentations; strong oral and written communication skills; strong commitment to building a team environment; direct clinical experience with diverse clients.
