The Allendale Association is a private, not-for-profit agency dedicated to excellence and innovation in the care, education, treatment, and advocacy for troubled children, adolescents and their families. The main campus of Allendale is located in Lake Villa, Illinois, 50 miles north of Chicago. We also have a residential site in Benet Lake, Wisconsin. The currently available post-doctoral opportunity is in our residential treatment program.
The postdoctoral program has a strong psychodynamic influence, and applicants from a background in forensic psychology are welcome to apply.
Regularly scheduled seminars include:
Disorders of the Self: a developmental, self and object relations model of psychoanalytic psychotherapy developed by Dr. James Masterson, as a means of understanding and treating disorders of the self
Working with
Families Seminar: a focus on working with children and families using family therapy or clinical consultation and the Allendale's Relational Re-Enactment Systems Approach to Treatment
(REStArT) - formerly known as Counter Response - model to understand behavior and plan treatment.
Supervision Skills Seminar: a focus on supervising therapeutic mentors (when available) and didactics regarding various models of supervision.
The yearly stipend is $34,000. Benefits include medical and dental insurance, 2 weeks paid vacation, 8 sick days and 10 holidays/personal days.
