Setting: The Community Psychological Service (CPS) is a not-for-profit outpatient mental health clinic established at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1977. CPS clinicians provide affordable psychological services to clients from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds in Metropolitan St. Louis and its surrounding areas. Most services are provided through grant funding and Medicaid.
Program Description: Postdoctoral fellows at CPS conduct a wide variety of assessments and provide outpatient therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults under the supervision of staff psychologists. Assessments include comprehensive personality evaluations of children, adolescents with severe emotional disturbances, forensic parenting competency evaluations, violence risk assessments, and evaluations of learning and attention disorders in children. Common treatment issues addressed in therapy include mood disorders, relationship problems, trauma, and personality disorders. Postdoctoral fellows receive ample individual and group supervision. The fellowship program fulfills the post-doctoral supervision requirements for psychology licensure in the state of Missouri. Fellows also participate in didactic training experiences and assessment case conferences at UM-St. Louis.
Salary and Benefits: The stipend for the fellowship is $35,000 for the year. Fellows are also offered a benefits package through the University of Missouri- St. Louis that includes health insurance, vacation time, and sick leave.
Qualifications
- A doctoral degree (Ph.D./Psy.D.) from an APA-Accredited program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
- Successful completion of an APA-accredited internship.
- Experience and formal coursework in psychotherapy with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and in the administration, scoring and interpretation of intellectual, educational and objective/projective personality testing of children and/or adults.
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills and strong clinical skills in diagnosis, assessment, and therapy.
