Job Description: We are currently looking for a Health Psychology Clinical Fellow to join the Department of Psychology at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) as part of our Post-Doctoral Fellowship program. SickKids, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is Canada's most research-intensive hospital and the largest centre dedicated to improving children's health in the country. The Department of Psychology at SickKids includes approximately 30 psychologists and 10 psychometrists, along with numerous clinical and research staff and trainees providing services and conducting clinical research within the Hospital. As a clinical fellow, you will receive intensive training in pediatric and health psychology. This two-year training position begins on or before September 2, 2014, with renewal of the contract for the second year conditional on successful completion of the first year requirements.

Here's What You'll Get To Do: The fellowship offers clinical training in inpatient and outpatient psychological assessment, consultation, and intervention for patients with a wide range of paediatric medical conditions.

In this role, you will be able to apply Health Psychology assessment and intervention skills to a broad spectrum of behavioral, emotional, and adaptive problems in the context of serious medical conditions.

You will: Assess and diagnosis behavioral and psychological disorders. Provide consultation and/or treatment of psychological or behavioral problems related to illness onset or maintenance. Utilize interventions for non-compliance with medical treatment regimes, stress and pain management, and provide interventions to help patients and their families cope with stressful medical procedures or with the effects of acute or chronic illness. Practice under the supervision of senior staff in the Department of Psychology, involving observation, report reviews, and one-on-one meetings to discuss cases.

Didactics: A wide range of didactic opportunities are available, including Psychology Rounds, Professional Issues Seminars for Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellows, Health Psychology Seminars, Program in Neuroscience and Mental Health Meetings, and numerous team rounds.

Here's What You'll Need: You have completed a CPA/APA accredited graduate program in clinical psychology and have completed a CPA/APA accredited pre-doctoral internship in clinical psychology. You have internship level training in pediatric psychology and/or health psychology. You have completed all degree requirements before the fellowship start date. You meet the requirements for issuance of a Certificate for Supervised Practice with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and will and pursue registration during the fellowship.

Salary and Benefits: The stipend for the 2014-2016 year is $40,000 for the first year and $42,000 for the second year. Fellows are eligible for the modified SickKids benefits package (health and dental), 2 weeks paid vacation, and one week paid professional development leave.

Employment Type: Temporary Fixed-Term, 1 year contract with a possible renewal for a second year conditional on successful completion of the first year requirements.
