The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Assessment Service at CAMH, located at 250 College Street in Toronto, is currently seeking to fill a 1 year (possibly 2 years) neuropsychology (60%) / Forensic/Concurrent Disorders (40%) post-doctoral fellowship beginning in September 2014. Qualified candidates will have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology or neuropsychology and will have completed appropriate course work and internship training in clinical neuropsychology and forensic psychology. The fellow will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and effective communication as well as complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.
The fellowship will emphasize clinical training in adult neuropsychology, forensic psychology and concurrent disorders (comorbid complex mental illness and substance abuse) in a psychiatric inpatient and outpatient setting. Participation in research and other scholarly activity will be encouraged, but not mandated. In addition to semi-structured didactics within the hospital, fellows will have the opportunity to participate in didactic activities in affiliated sites such as Baycrest Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital. Attendance in rounds will be encouraged. Fellows will be provided with quality formal and informal supervision by licensed psychologists. Fellows must be licensed with the college of Psychologists of Ontario or be ready for licensure under supervised practice (http://www.cpo.on.ca).
The neuropsychology service provides neuropsychological, psychological and functional (OT) assessment services for individuals with a wide range of medical, neurologic, and psychiatric issues. Primary referrals include schizophrenia and psychosis, though client with mood, addiction and concurrent disorders are also seen. The fellow will also be asked to assist in building clinical programming and provide cognitive rehabilitation services (cognitive group, cognitive compensation etc.), to clients with schizophrenia. In the forensic division and the concurrent disorders service, the postdoctoral fellow will also see clients for assessment, consultation and treatment services to those teams. Fellows will have the opportunity to be involved in specialized forensic assessments, including risk for future violence and criminal responsibility.
This position has an annual full-time salary of $50,000. Two weeks of vacation as well as time for professional development will be granted (e.g. examinations, EPPP etc.)
