Job Description: We are currently looking for a Health Psychology Clinical Fellow to join the Department of Psychology at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) as part of our Post-Doctoral Fellowship program. SickKids, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is Canada's most research-intensive hospital and the largest centre dedicated to improving children's health in the country. The Department of Psychology at SickKids includes approximately 30 psychologists and 10 psychometrists, along with numerous clinical and research staff and trainees providing services and conducting clinical research within the Hospital. As a clinical fellow, you will receive intensive training in pediatric and health psychology. This two-year training position begins on or before September 2, 2014, with renewal of the contract for the second year conditional on successful completion of the first year requirements.

Here's What You'll Get To Do: The fellowship offers clinical training in inpatient and outpatient psychological assessment, consultation, and intervention for patients with a wide range of paediatric medical conditions.

In this role, you will be able to apply Health Psychology assessment and intervention skills to a broad spectrum of behavioral, emotional, and adaptive problems in the context of serious medical conditions.

You will: Assess and diagnosis behavioral and psychological disorders. Provide consultation and/or treatment of psychological or behavioral problems related to illness onset or maintenance. Utilize interventions for non-compliance with medical treatment regimes, stress and pain management, and provide interventions to help patients and their families cope with stressful medical procedures or with the effects of acute or chronic illness. Practice under the supervision of senior staff in the Department of Psychology, involving observation, report reviews, and one-on-one meetings to discuss cases.

Didactics: A wide range of didactic opportunities are available, including Psychology Rounds, Professional Issues Seminars for Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellows, Health Psychology Seminars, Program in Neuroscience and Mental Health Meetings, and numerous team rounds.

Here's What You'll Need: You have completed a CPA/APA accredited graduate program in clinical psychology and have completed a CPA/APA accredited pre-doctoral internship in clinical psychology. You have internship level training in pediatric psychology and/or health psychology. You have completed all degree requirements before the fellowship start date. You meet the requirements for issuance of a Certificate for Supervised Practice with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and will and pursue registration during the fellowship.

Salary and Benefits: The stipend for the 2014-2016 year is $40,000 for the first year and $42,000 for the second year. Fellows are eligible for the modified SickKids benefits package (health and dental), 2 weeks paid vacation, and one week paid professional development leave.

Employment Type: Temporary Fixed-Term, 1 year contract with a possible renewal for a second year conditional on successful completion of the first year requirements.

Neuropsychology Clinic of the Krembil Neuroscience Centre at University Health Network, Toronto, ON, Canada - 1 Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychology

Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychology – September 2014

A two-year postdoctoral fellowship is available within the Neuropsychology Clinic of the Krembil Neuroscience Centre at University Health Network. This is one of the largest programs in CNS dysfunction in Canada and a teaching hospital of the University of Toronto. The fellow will have the opportunity to complete supervision for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and to participate in collaborative research. Primary affiliation will be with the Epilepsy and Movement Disorders surgical programs, although there will be an opportunity to see a wider array of patients/presenting problems during the registration period from other neurological and neurosurgical programs within UHN. Supervision is provided by four staff Neuropsychologists in the clinic.

The successful applicant will have completed all requirements for a PhD in Psychology, including dissertation defense, within the past 2 years and by 1 September 2014. Training must have included an emphasis on cognitive neuroscience/neuropsychology in research and clinical neuropsychology in practica/internship. Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Toronto, Ontario, Canada - 1 Postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology

The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Assessment Service at CAMH, located at 250 College Street in Toronto, is currently seeking to fill a 1 year (possibly 2 years) neuropsychology (60%) / Forensic/Concurrent Disorders (40%) post-doctoral fellowship beginning in September 2014. Qualified candidates will have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology or neuropsychology and will have completed appropriate course work and internship training in clinical neuropsychology and forensic psychology. The fellow will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and effective communication as well as complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.

The fellowship will emphasize clinical training in adult neuropsychology, forensic psychology and concurrent disorders (comorbid complex mental illness and substance abuse) in a psychiatric inpatient and outpatient setting. Participation in research and other scholarly activity will be encouraged, but not mandated. In addition to semi-structured didactics within the hospital, fellows will have the opportunity to participate in didactic activities in affiliated sites such as Baycrest Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital. Attendance in rounds will be encouraged. Fellows will be provided with quality formal and informal supervision by licensed psychologists. Fellows must be licensed with the college of Psychologists of Ontario or be ready for licensure under supervised practice (http://www.cpo.on.ca).

The neuropsychology service provides neuropsychological, psychological and functional (OT) assessment services for individuals with a wide range of medical, neurologic, and psychiatric issues. Primary referrals include schizophrenia and psychosis, though client with mood, addiction and concurrent disorders are also seen. The fellow will also be asked to assist in building clinical programming and provide cognitive rehabilitation services (cognitive group, cognitive compensation etc.), to clients with schizophrenia. In the forensic division and the concurrent disorders service, the postdoctoral fellow will also see clients for assessment, consultation and treatment services to those teams. Fellows will have the opportunity to be involved in specialized forensic assessments, including risk for future violence and criminal responsibility.

This position has an annual full-time salary of $50,000. Two weeks of vacation as well as time for professional development will be granted (e.g. examinations, EPPP etc.)

Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Toronto, Ontario, Canada - 1 Postdoctoral fellowship Psychotherapetic Intervention for Complex Mental Illness

The Complex Mental Illness (CMI) Program at CAMH, located primarily at 1001 Queen Street West in Toronto, is currently seeking to fill a 1 year (possibly 2 year) post-doctoral clinical fellowship focused on program development and enhancing best-practice in the treatment of complex mental illness, beginning in September 2014.

The CAMH CMI Program has a focus upon the development and evaluation of promising psychotherapeutic practices. This work has to date involved the development of group based CBT for psychosis, and the development of interventions addressing social cognition and mindfulness-based approaches to address both psychosis and concurrent addictions. Clinicians within the forensic stream of the CMI program have developed specialized groups targeting forensic issues (e.g., education regarding the Ontario Review Board), as well as broader treatment needs of this client group (e.g., anger and emotion regulation, interpersonal skills).

This post-doctoral fellowship will emphasize training in, and implementation of, client-centered best practice in the largest mental health facility in Canada, with a particular emphasis on cognitive behavioural interventions. The focus of this work will be on enhancing therapeutic programming in both inpatient and outpatient settings throughout the CMI Program at CAMH (in both the Schizophrenia and Forensic Divisions), and will include work in development of programming, program evaluation, and training and supervision of allied mental health staff. Participation in research and other scholarly activity will be encouraged, but not mandated. In addition, fellows will have access to didactic opportunities, such as through attendance at weekly grand rounds. Fellows will be provided with quality formal and informal supervision by licensed psychologists.

Qualified candidates will have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and will have completed appropriate course work and internship training in psychotherapeutic interventions for individuals suffering with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders and with forensic clients. Prior training in CBT for psychosis and strong clinical skills are necessary qualifications, and previous experience in program development and evaluation of clinical interventions is a definite asset. Previous experience in providing clinical supervision is not required, but would be a definite asset. The fellow will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and effective communication as well as complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.
