Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - 1 postdoctoral fellowship (research)

Description: POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW, Sloan School of Management-Center for Collective Intelligence, to collaborate on an ongoing research project on collective intelligence in groups. In our previous work, we have explored collective intelligence in small groups of two to five members working on a range of tasks (see http://www.sciencemag.org/content/330/6004/686.abstract). Using web-based tools, we are now beginning to explore the features (e.g., group composition and on-line collaboration tools) that enable collective intelligence to emerge in larger groups. We are conducting studies in our lab as well as via the Internet and at field sites. The postdoctoral fellow will be in charge of implementing these studies. Will be supervised by Prof. Thomas Malone and work with collaborators at Carnegie Mellon and Union College as part of a broader research group on collective intelligence.

Experience: REQUIREMENTS: a Ph.D. in computer science, HCI, information science, social psychology, organizational behavior, communication, or related discipline; and an interest in and skills blending social psychology or organizational behavior with computer science and implementation.
