University of Miami, Miami FL, USA - 1 postdoctoral fellowship

The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Division of Psychology is offering one-year, full-time post-doctoral fellowship positions, one in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and one in Behavioral Medicine with a start date of 9/3/12.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health position will be primarily based in the Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient clinic (CAP clinic) with responsibilities as a consultant for the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Unit and the Statewide Inpatient Psychiatry Program (a long term residential unit). The Post-Doctoral Fellow will be exposed to a wide variety of childhood disorders with children ranging in age from 3 to 21 years and coming from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. In addition, the Post-Doctoral fellow will work closely with psychiatry residents and fellows in team evaluations or as a consultant for testing. Responsibilities will include providing individual, family, and group therapy as well as psychological assessment. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will also have an opportunity to supervise interns and provide consultation to psychiatry and social work. Opportunities for research can be considered. 

The Behavioral Medicine position is in The Healing Place, an outpatient clinic which treats clients with co-morbid psychiatric and medical disorders, with a strong emphasis on HIV/AIDS. The program offers the opportunity for the Fellow to provide comprehensive mental health services to person all ages affected or infected with HIV/AIDS and other concomitant illness including Hepatitis C, diabetes, and substance abuse.  The primary responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, psychological evaluations, individual, family, and group psychotherapy.  Other responsibilities include providing on site supervision to psychology interns and practicum students.  Completion of a research project also is required. 

In addition to clinical activities, the Post-Doctoral Fellows participate in regularly scheduled seminars, including the Post-Doctoral fellow seminar, Ethics seminar, Morbidity and Mortality Rounds and Psychiatry Grand Rounds. Additional seminars are offered across the UM/JMH campus. 
The UM/JMH Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Program is APPIC approved and provides the clinical post-doctoral training hours and supervision required for licensing eligibility.
Minimum Requirements:  Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. or Psy.D. training in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program prior to the start date and completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship. Strong applicants from non-APA-approved programs will be considered on a case by case basis.  Applicants who are fluent in Spanish are preferred but not required.
