Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Toronto, ON, Canada - 1 Postdoctoral fellowship in Concurrent Disorder for Major Depression and Alcohol Dependence

The Integrated Care Pathways (ICP) Program at CAMH, located primarily at 1001 Queen Street West in Toronto, is currently seeking to fill a 1 year post-doctoral clinical fellowship focused on treatment development, implementation and enhancing best-practice in the treatment of concurrent disorders, beginning in May 2015.

The ICP MDDAD has a treatment model that includes pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. The therapeutic interventions include motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and relapse prevention.

This post-doctoral fellowship will emphasize training in, and implementation of, client-centered best practice in the largest mental health facility in Canada, with a particular emphasis on the treatment of alcohol dependence and major depressive disorder through cognitive behavioural interventions. The primary role will be to assist the development, delivery, and dissemination of the non-pharmacological intervention within 8 other health facilities (including Academic Health Science Centres, Community Hospitals and Family Health Teams). The development component will comprise of developing group therapy options as well as training and education for non-psychologists in the therapy manual. Fellows will be provided with quality formal and informal supervision by licensed psychologists. The delivery component will comprise 1 to 2 days per week providing individual and/or group clinical services through the ICP MDDAD program. In addition, fellows will have access to didactic opportunities, such as through attendance at weekly grand rounds.

Qualified candidates will have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from a program accredited by the CPA and will have completed graduate course work and practicum or internship training in psychotherapeutic interventions for individuals suffering with Addictions and Mental Health. Prior training in CBT and strong clinical skills are necessary qualifications, and previous experience in program development and evaluation of clinical interventions is a definite asset. Previous experience in providing clinical training and supervision is not required, but would similarly be an asset. The fellow will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and effective communication as well as complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.

Fellows must be licensed with the College of Psychologists of Ontario or be ready for licensure under supervised practice (http://www.cpo.on.ca).

This position has an annual full-time salary of $50,000. Two weeks of vacation as well as time for professional development will be granted (e.g. examinations, EPPP etc.).
