The Menninger Clinic announces the creation of a postdoctoral psychology fellowship in suicide studies. Developed as a specialty track within the existing postdoctoral program, the fellowship will include features shared with that program, as well as features specific to suicidology. The traditional fellowship includes exposure to a variety of patient populations on several specialty units, with a training focus on psychological assessment, case formulation, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and clinical consultation.
The suicide studies track will add significant participation in a multifaceted suicide research program seeking to better understand psychological processes underlying suicidal behavior and developing innovative suicide-focused interventions. This is a one-year fellowship, with a second year contingent upon renewed funding. Further information about the fellowship may be obtained at www.appic.org. Please note that the application deadline for the suicide studies track has been extended to March 1, 2012.
The Menninger Clinic has been ranked among the best psychiatric hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report for 21 consecutive years. Many have experienced previous hospitalizations, suicide attempts, nonsuicidal self-injury, depression, personality disorders, addictive disorders, and/or trauma.
Recent suicide research at Menninger has examined outcomes of Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), resulting in pending publication of the first systematic study of this framework in a psychiatric inpatient setting. Other research opportunities are currently being explored with Baylor neuroimaging and genetics researchers.

VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Seattle,WA, USA - 1 Fellowship position in Neurocognitive Disorders
Please see the original posting below for a 1-year Fellowship position in Neurocognitive Disorders at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle. I encourage early submission of applications so that phone interviews or in-person interviews at INS can be scheduled.
Kathleen Pagulayan and I are the co-supervisors for this unique training position. It is a mostly clinical position with a 50% focus on neurodegenerative disease and 50% mTBI/Rehabilitation. Bridging the gap of these two areas are Memory Skills training groups. While not a main focus of the fellowship, research opportunities abound (VA and University of Washington affiliations) and there is an ongoing clinical demonstration project with potential for program development, dissemination, and publication.
We have found that an ideal trainee is someone who has a strong Neuropsychology background who is looking to round out their CV with specific training in these areas -- perhaps because there wasn't an opportunity during internship/graduate work - or alternatively, a good-fit applicant might be someone who is looking to acquire neuropsychology experience with Veterans. I would be more than happy to answer any questions about the Fellowship - front or back channel. My VA email is emily.trittschuh@va.gov. Work phone: 206-277-6283 Please pass this on to anyone who may be interested. Sincerely, Emily Trittschuh, PhD
