CMI is recruiting a post-­‐doctoral fellow in pediatric neuropsychology. Fellows are expected to take a multidisciplinary approach to their work, drawing from a broad range of disciplines including clinical psychology, cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychology, developmental psychology). Responsibilities Initial Diagnostic Evaluation General intake evaluation for the purpose of diagnosis and subsequent triage to a specialty treatment service or referral outside of the Child Mind Institute. Semi-­‐structured interview based on the K-­‐SADS Questionnaires for the child, parents, teacher Neuropsychological Assessment Intake, school observation, full neuropsychological and educational evaluation, feedback to family, initial and follow-­‐up contact with school, complete written report. Cognitive Remediation, Individual and Family Treatment The post doc will be expected to carry several treatment cases. The post doc will also participate in a variety of learning experiences at the Child Mind Institute: Case Conference (Friday morning) Supervision of Externs/Volunteers Additional Experiences Weekly supervision by clinical neuropsychologists and learning specialist. It is expected that the Post Doctoral Fellow will give presentations at schools and local community organizations as requested. Such presentations may also involve interactions and interviews with the media.

Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston's Texas Medical Center), 1 postdoctoral fellowship in behavioral health psychology

POST DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER, DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow in the area of behavioral health psychology for involvement in ongoing clinical research studies and patient care activities with cancer patients undergoing reconstructive surgery. The behavioral psychology fellow will serve on a project team with faculty and staff from the Department of Behavioral Science as well as from the Department of Plastic Surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center. All projects and activities will be part of the Body Image Research and Therapy Program and will incorporate behavioral health outcomes and involve the delivery of behavioral health interventions. In this position, behavioral psychology fellows will be expected to foster their own clinical and/or clinical research careers by delivering psychological interventions in the Body image Research and Therapy Program under the supervision of a mentor who is a licensed psychologist in Texas. Interventions may include cognitive behavioral approaches, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness/acceptance-based approaches. Fellows will be expected to combine clinical and research training and will be encouraged to pursue independent funding for their research career.

Qualifications include a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology. Candidates will be expected to pursue licensure during the fellowship period, and will obtain necessary supervision hours. Our Children’s House at Baylor (OCH), Dallas, Texas, invites applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology. The fellow would have the opportunity to work with children in a pediatric specialty hospital. This 35-bed facility admits children and adolescents (birth to 18) into one of several programs including acute rehabilitation (head injury, spinal cord injury, tumors, strokes, etc), sub-acute (coma monitoring and training of parents), ventilator care, palliative care, and feeding disorders. The fellow would work as part of an interdisciplinary team both with inpatients and outpatients. Inpatient responsibilities would include assessment and development of treatment plans, cognitive rehabilitation, monitoring of coma status, parent education and support. On the outpatient side, the fellow would administer comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations and be part of the Cognitive Day Neuro Rehabilitation Program. A familiarity in developmental psychology is encouraged. Research opportunities would also be available.

The Department of Mental Health, Vacaville, CA, USA - 1 post-doctoral fellowship (clinical psychology)

The Department of Mental Health--Vacaville Psychiatric Program (DMH-VPP) psychology service announces the opening of Clinical Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellowship positions available for the 2011-2012 training year. DMH-VPP is a 394-bed inpatient psychiatric facility within a state prison serving incarcerated males.

Post-Doctoral Fellows at DMH—VPP receive extensive assessment training, with didactic seminars in personality/diagnostic assessment, suicide and violence risk assessment, and neuropsychological assessment. Fellows also participate in an assessment-based case conference and in a clinical issues seminar. Fellows are involved in mentoring pre-doctoral interns (in our APA-approved internship program) and may also proctor research practicum students. Post-Doctoral Fellows gain exposure to acute and sub-acute inpatient care, a range of Axis I, Axis II, and neuropsychological disorders within incarcerated patients.

Post-doctoral fellows work with supervisory staff to develop individual training plans for the fellowship year. Training experiences available to post-doctoral fellows include: Completing various types of assessments, providing specialized consultation services, participating in the clinical milieu, and participating in or conducting research. Specifically, the main areas of focus are:
  • Fellows may specialize in conducting psychological assessments. Areas of specialization may include assessment of risk (including suicide risk, violence risk, and risk of sexual violence), neuropsychological assessment, and behavioral assessment. Fellows will gain experience consulting with treatment teams regarding the results of these assessments.
  • Fellows may join our consultative service, which provides behavioral consultation to treatment units. Fellows employ functional analysis and learn various assessments to consult on and treat patients with target problems such as severe self-injurious behavior or sexually offending behaviors.
  • Fellows may assume participant or lead roles in current research protocols, may conduct independent research, and may present findings at professional conferences and in staff trainings.
  • Training begins November, 2011, and ends the last week in August, 2012. Post-doctoral fellows are expected to complete a minimum of 1,500 supervised hours.

The Allendale Association, Lake Villa, IL, USA - 1 postdoctoral position
